Top Five Lists! War Movies

Alright guys,

as promised here is the new Top 5 List and this week the topic is War Movies. And not only WAR Movies where the war is actually shown, also movies were the WAR is a pretty huge part of the movie.

1. Saving Private Ryan - A great movie that shows not only the cruelty of war, but also the heroism and the companionship in the troops. Great scenes, great dialogues and nice action paired with a lot of great emotions and an ending that is just great and awesome and shows you, what a military mission can mean for you and your further life! Starring Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore and Matt Damon, directed by Steven Spielberg.

2. Schindlers List - Not a typical war movie that shows you the violence of the war, but it shows you heroism in a different kind. An awesome movie shot in B/W with great actors, lots of drama and visuals that are great in a melodramatic way not in a stunning way! Starring Liam Neeson and Sir Ben Kingsley, directed by Steven Spielberg.

3. Inglourious Basterds - WWII an band of jewish americans are landing in France with the purpose of  killing as many Nazis as possible. This basic story is mixed up with great dialogues that are purely smart constructed, great acting, above ALL Christoph Waltz and typical flashbacks that are making this movie a great enjoyable movie. Starring Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, Diane Kruger and Daniel Brühl, directed by Quentin Tarrantino.

4. The Downfall - This time end of WWII. A rare and emotional look at the last days in the Bunker of Hitler. It shows the fanatism of Hitler and his servants and the will to force the Third Reich or go down with it, no matter how many neutral victims there are. A great german movie that deals with our history in a great way. Starring Alexandra Maria Lara, Bruno Ganz, Ullrich Matthes and Heino Ferch, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.

5. Platoon - Maybe one of the most accomplished war movies, but not good enough to be higher on this list. A good movie that shows what it is like to be a newbie in a troop and what it is like to fight a war that has absolutly no reason or purpose! Starring Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe and Tom Berrenger, directed by Oliver Stone.

And here we go with the normal other stuff that didn't made the list for whatever reason but still are a great watch!
Rambo, Flag of our fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Black Hawk Down, Apocalypse Now, Pearl Harbor, All quite on the western front.
