Top Five Lists! Hanks Movies

Right on time, here we go with the second actor I am focussing on this one! I got that idea because of a trailer I just saw couple of hours ago for Larry Crowne and so I thought why not about one of the most acclaimed actors in Hollywood.

1. Philadelphia - One of the many memorable dramas that Hanks has done over the career. A great story with a great performance by Hanks and the other lead in Denzel Washington. A great drama that showed discrimination and the danger of a virus that wasn't known that broad until that movie showed what it can do. Starring Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Antonio Banderas and Jason Robards. Directed by Jonathan Demme.

2. Apollo 13 - Another great drama and pretty much a Tom Hanks Show in outer space. Some of the old folks I talked to are saying that it is a seriously great drama that showed the passion and the coverage of the Apollo 13 mission very good. I am too young to say something like that but it is still a great story that is based on true events. It has drama, love and of course friendship in it. Starring Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris. Directed by Ron Howard.

3. Saving Private Ryan - Maybe one of the most critically and award wise acclaimed movie with Tom Hanks and one of those movies that are putting tears into my eyes pretty much everytime. It is a passionate project that is focussing on the herorism in war and is showing what a group of people working together as a unit are capable of doing, and it also shows what burden you take on yourself when your mates died in the battle and you are visiting them years after it. Starring Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Tom Sizemore and Edward Burns. Directed by Steven Spielberg.

4. Forrest Gump - Just saw that every movie on this list is gonna be a drama so lets honor the more "comedic" part and the more historic importance of this movie. I mean it shows so many great steps in American History all covered in a great love story and the part of narrations to fill the viewer in. I mean some punch lines about the history...hidden parts like the Watergate Affair and so on! Really awesome performance by Hanks and a great script. Deserving of the Academy Awards. Starring Tom Hanks. Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field. Directed by Robert Zemeckis.

5. The Green Mile - One of the most emotional movies I have ever seen. The story of a warden in the death department in a jail who has an inmate who seems to be pretty nice and is lighting up some magic here and there. This all filled in with a ruthless warden who doesn't care about the dignity of the inmates who are about to get killed. Starring Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan and David Morse. Directed by Frank Darabont.

And here are the other notable mentions as usual! The DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons, Cast Away, War of Charlie Wilson, Terminal, Catch me if you can, Cast Away and Turner & Hooch.
